Many great scholarly
organizations have
lending libraries and
the ASNJ is no
exception. Thanks to our
reciprocal membership
agreements with other
archaeological
organizations up and
down the East Coast, the
ASNJ has a small library
of journals and other
publications related to
local archaeology. The
late Herbert C. Kraft
maintained the library
at Seton Hall University
until his passing when
it was transferred to
Monmouth University.
With the exception of a
few rare books that can
be used by appointment
at Monmouth, all books
are available for loan
to ASNJ members.
Who can borrow
materials? Any
ASNJ member in good
standing
Are there library
cards? No,
the ASNJ’s acting
librarian will keep a
register of patrons and
the books they have
borrowed.
How long may I
keep a book? Books
are checked out for the
period from one meeting
to the next.
Are there library
fines? Why
do you ask? Are you
thinking about
absconding with a book?
Return the books on time
and we won’t have to
worry about this
question.
How can I get a
particular book or
journal? Simple
e-mail (rveit@monmouth.edu)
or call 732-263-5699 the
ASNJ’s acting librarian
with your request. The
book will be brought to
the next meeting for you
to pick up.
Who is the
librarian? Currently,
Richard Veit is acting
as librarian; however,
other interested
individuals who have an
interest in helping with
the library are
encouraged to sign up
for the library
committee. An individual
need not be a board
member to serve on the
committee.
