Archaeology Open House at the Allen House, Shrewsbury:
The Monmouth County Historical Association is hosting an Open House at the Allen House, a mid- to late-18th century tavern site in Shrewsbury. There will be activities, a Ground Penetrating Radar demonstration, house tours, and refreshments. This is a free event. 11am to 4pm at the Allen House, corner of Rt. 35 and Sycamore Ave, Shrewsbury. Monmouth University's Department of History and Anthropology and the Friends of the Abraham Staats House, Inc. will be excavating at the Staats House on May 31st from 9:00 to 4:00. The excavations are part of the ongoing restoration of the house. The site is located at 17 Von Steuben Lane in South Bound Brook, New Jersey. Individuals desiring more information should contact:
